Every country has the right to bid for staging this event as long as it can convince FIFA that it has the resources to provide necessary sporting and related facilities.
I’m not quite sure if we can stop them staging the World Cup in Qatar, but I’m sure Qatar needs the support of countries which already experienced this Event. They could give a bit of manage and security know-how to these people.
The FIFA World Cup, as a historical sports event, was always staged in big countries – especially countries which have a football background. FIFA wants to give every country the same rights. You don’t have to be a big country to apply for staging this event and you even don’t have to have a football-loving nation. Every country is equal to the FIFA and this isn’t too wrong, I guess.
I would love to have the World Cup in Germany again, but then again, I don’t begrudge Qatar staging the WC. What I don’t like about this decision is that it seems like they never really thought about what they’re doing. This small countries spend a lot of money to get all the sporting facilities. This could be a economical problem and I’m quite sure they can’t affort all this; which means we need to come up with a whole lot money again to make them happy. Then again they will earn a lot of money in 2022 and a lot of people will get jobs, building everything up they need to make a good host.
If the World Cup is used to improve the developing process of countries like Qatar it may sound nice. 50°C may sound hot. But I think there is another place, another time and another way to help developing countries and if german people want to sweat they usually go into saunas or have ordinary vanilla sex with their wifes.

beruhigt Euch doch erst einmal… Bis zur WM in Katar sind es noch 12 Jahre. Bis dahin wird sich noch einiges ändern..
Außerdem, was war mit Südafrika?? Ist die Bevölkerung dort nicht arm? Gibt es dort viele super Vereine?? Außerdem ist die Kriminalität in Südafrika um einiges höher als in Katar. Davon ist aber keine Rede hier.. Vor der WM in Südafrika zog das Gerücht umher, dass eventuell die WM doch wieder in BRD stattfinden könnte, da Südafrika noch nicht mit der Infrastruktur soweit war… Schon vergessen? Eine WM, die erst in 12 Jahren stattfinden soll, so schlecht zu machen, ist nicht fair.
Meiner Meinung nach sollte jedes Land einmal eine WM austragen dürfen. Am Ende kann man sagen “bis jetzt hat mir die WM 2006 in Deutschland gefallen, in Südafrika haben mich die Vuvuzelas gestört, etc”.
Das Argument, die WM sollte nur in den Ländern stattfinden, wo das Land eine Fußball-Vergangenheit aufweisen kann, ist nicht richtig. Diese Aussage ist nicht hinnehmbar. Das würde bedeuten, dass Deutschland nie und nimmer eine Hockey-WM, Baseball-WM, Curling-WM etc austragen darf. Deutschland hat in diesen Sportarten keine ausreichende Vergangenheit… Aber das ist doch Quatsch. UND: Die Olympischen Spiele in China?? Nach der obigen Aussage dürfte auch dort die Veranstaltung nicht stattfinden… Irgendwann würde es langweilig werden, wenn die WM nur in Europa und Amerika stattfinden würde. Ich bin dafür, dass wenn die Bedingungen stimmen, dass sogar Tansania irgendwann mal die WM austrägt.

Welch eine Arroganz der sog. 1. Welt, die sich auch als die 1. Fußballwelt wähnt. Warum sollten Weltmeisterschaften nicht auch endlich mal in einem arabischen Staat stattfinden? Ich wüsste keinen ernsthaften Grund, der dagegen spricht. Auch die Araber können Fußball spielen, was die vermeintlich Großen im Fußball bei WM regelmäßig erfahren mussten. Der Zuschlag ist eine große Ehre und auch eine Chance für die gesamte arabische Welt. Dass sich hier stellvertretend für diese Region ein reiches arabisches Land wie Katar vorgedrängelt hat, ist doch nur allzu plausibel, oder hätten sich arme Länder wie Tunesien, Algerien, Marokko und so, wo der Fußball möglicherweise weiter verbreitet ist als in Katar, um die Ausrichtung bewerben und sich maßlos verschulden sollen? Die entstehenden Kosten sind mir relativ egal. Katar hat das Geld und bedenken wir, welche riesigen Aufträge an die freie Wirtschaft zu erwarten sind, auch an deutsche Firmen.
Also Ruhe bewahren und die Katarer machen lassen. Das klappt schon.
